phei shin school was established by Mr & Mrs Lim Lam Kok at the Jelutong Chingze Methodist Church Chapel, East Jelutong, Penang, in 1936 begining with a single classroom.

in 1937, a year later, it was relocated to a more spacious building at No 531, East Jelutong, Penang. By December, 1941, student enrolment increased to almost atilising all the classtooms in the building.

The school closed down from December 1941 to August 194 during the 2nd world war when the Japanese inwoded Malaya.

Phei Shin school rehabilitated and re-opened in 1946. by 1950/1 the building was insufficient to aeismmodate teh ever increasing number of students waiting to register to study at Phei Shin School.
